The Eastern Province of Sri Lanka (Sinhala: නැගෙනහිර පළාත Næ̆gĕnahira Paḷāta, Tamil: கிழக்கு மாகாணம் Kiḻakku Mākāṇam) is renowned for its stunning coastline and rich history. Top Destinations in Eastern Province

Ampara District

  • Argugam Bay: Famous for its world-class surfing conditions, Arugam Bay is a popular destination for surfers and beach lovers alike. The laid-back atmosphere and pristine beaches make it an ideal spot for relaxation.
  • Kumana National Park: Known for its rich birdlife, Kumana National Park is a haven for birdwatchers. The park also features diverse wildlife, including elephants, leopards, and crocodiles.
  • Deegavapiya Temple: A sacred Buddhist site with historical significance, Deegavapiya is one of the 16 Solosmasthana (sacred places in Sri Lanka), making it an important pilgrimage destination.
